Restaurants

Keep in mind that the local restaurant fare is what it is… it's a small town, the scale on which we judge is not big city competitive dining!  Some are pretty good, and others just plain awful.  The following recommendations are made to advise you of a few of the local restaurants based on a combination of the quality of the food, service, and price. During the summer most restaurants struggle to hire enough quality staff to provide excellent service, be prepared for slow service and happily surprised you get lucky with fast service.

STATE 48 TAVERN- 614 N. Navajo Dr. (next to Ace Hardware) - Surprisingly trendy menu, nicely decorated, big screen TVs, and live music on many weekends. Full bar and waiter service. This is the place most similar to restaurants in cities. Breakfast, weekend brunch, daily pastries and espresso. This is the best real restaurant in Page. Fish tacos are good, topped fries are good, pear gorgonzola salad is good, dessert is good.

GRAND CANYON BREW PUB-  opens 2022, pictures look great, see the menu and info at https://www.grandcanyonbrewery.com or look for them on Facebook. I've had some great guest feedback about this place.

BIG JOHNS TEXAS BBQ - 153 S. Lake Powell Blvd. - my Texan brother in law says it’s the real deal (but I find it quite smokey. )  Casual décor, good food -  Walk up service, outdoor & indoor seating.

FIESTA MEXICANA - 125 S. Lake Powell Blvd.  – Best dine in Mexican food in Page.  Patio and indoor seating.

RANCH HOUSE GRILLE- 819 N. Navajo Dr. – Best breakfast in town!  Serve breakfast and lunch only – not open for dinner.  Very casual and very good, but breakfast is better than lunch.  They are very much what you would expect in middle America or Route 66 breakfast place, nothing fancy, nothing trendy, but the popular local spot. Think chicken fried steak.

NEW YORK TERIYAKI- 663 S Lake Powell Blvd in the old paddle wheel boat (yes, really) has shockingly good sushi given the distance from the ocean and remoteness of Page. Their menu is vast with sushi, teriyaki, Korean foods, stir fry, etc.  Very good the times we've tried it.

PACOS TACOS- 33 S. Lake Powell Blvd. (next to El Tapatilo), Very good breakfast burritos, chile relleno burrito, chile verde.  This place is a total dive, but serves very good Mexican food.  Very casual, walk-up and drive-thru service.

LAKE POWELL BARNYARD- 643 Haul Rd has snack foods and mini golf

MANDARIN GOURMET- 683 S. Lake Powell Blvd. (near Page Lumber) – Best Chinese food in town.  The buffet is a bargain and the food is especially good when the tour buses stop & everything is being cooked fresh!  Go early rather than late in order to assure best quality buffet selections.

RDs DRIVE IN- 143 S. Lake Powell Blvd. – this is an old-fashioned “burger joint” quite overpriced, but worth every penny if you are craving burgers, fries, and fantastic chocolate malts!

STROMBOLLI’S- Italian, eat in or take out Pizza, popular in town, not impressive, but solid and quite busy.

THE BIRD HOUSE – (Next to Strombolli’s on N. Navajo Blvd.) Good fried chicken, but the sides are so-so.  Eat on patio or take-out.

DAM BAR & GRILL -  Very touristy – pretty good food, but often bad service.  Go to STATE 48 TAVERN instead.

DARA THAI EXPRESS -  (Located near Safeway) it’s adequate, but so far I’ve not been impressed.  It’s fine if you are really wanting Thai food.

NEMOS FISH & CHIPS -  (Located next to Dara Thai Express next to Safeway)  Good fried fish, French fries, cole slaw, etc… Walk up service and outside tables.  Good food, but somewhat over priced.

GRAND CANYON BREWERY- 714 N Navajo Dr. is brand new and advertises a full menu and bar, lounge areas, rustic decor, pool tables, foosball. shuffleboard, over 20 TVs, and indoor & outdoor dining areas.

BONKERS- I have not eaten here in years, but recent guests have spoken quite favorably of their experiences here.

SLACKERS-a walk up to the counter place to get burgers, sandwiches, decent salads, fries/onion rings/sweet potato fries, even beer on tap. It's pretty good.

GONE WEST- Touristy, they have a huge room in back for busloads of people. An okay salad bar, steaks etc. I really want to like this place, I want there to a be a good salad bar, but we've tried it 3 times, once was okay, twice it was lousy.

INTO THE GRAND- very touristy and featuring Navajo dancers, I've not been here, but some guests have enjoyed it.

STEER89- Steakhouse & salad bar, we were optimistic, but sadly disappointed. The rib eye and NY steaks were cooked properly and quite tasty, the sides were sad, the rolls were stale, the salad bar disappointing, and the service marginal.  Go to State48 for your steak, same price, but better experience.

DONUTS- Hot & Sweet Coffee & Donuts is new in 2019, tried it once, unimpressed, dry greasy donut and not enough frosting, if you want a donut go to the Safeway bakery & go early. If you want a special order, contact them the day before and they will make your order so you get what you want.

BLUE BUDDHA SUSHI I know, right? Sushi in the middle of nowhere? But locals give this place excellent reviews, I've not tried it yet myself, but many friends have told me how much they like it.

SHAVED ICE-Google the location of Burger King, in that huge parking lot is a wee hut that sells Hawaiian shaved ice when school is out. They are open about 12-8, Tuesday-Saturday, most summer days. There is also often a shaved ice stand across from the fire & police department on Coppermine.

There are many other restaurants in town, so check them out and find one that suits your tastes.

Kanab-If you're driving through Kanab, you might enjoy these spots

Rocking V Cafe- Eclectic food in an artsy setting, veggie enchilada is tasty
